About Caitlyn Aida Garcia

As a creative who is always coming up with new ideas, it’s hard not to stop creating in my head. Whether it be film, marketing, or personal ideas, I am always innovating and planning two steps ahead. Without a clear vision, it's hard to execute an idea to its fullest potential. However, visions for anything, an event, a short film, or a campaign, take time and patience. As an aspiring filmmaker, I have recognized that my craft is a process that requires time, grace, optimism, and patience. Despite it being a process, that process is what I love the most and look forward to continuing to do it as a profession. Even though I love the process, I also love the chaos of being on set. From fixing lights to adjusting lav mics, to prepping props, to touching up makeup, the chaos never stops. This world may not be for the weak, but I am prepared and ready for the ride. 

The world may not be ready for me, but it will be. As a Latina filmmaker, I will make it my duty and goal to create for my community. Especially in today’s society, because advocacy and awareness through storytelling are more important than ever. So as I continue to pursue my career in film, I will use my craft to bring untold stories to the forefront. My community will not be silenced, but heard through the power of not only my own filmmaking but others as well. 

As I am approaching my post-grad era, I am excited for what opportunities will come my way. I will carry the knowledge I gained from my four years at Pepperdine with me to my next endeavor in life. With an exceptional foundation of both film studies and public relations, I have gained a skill set that will help chase my dreams.  The future may be unknown as of now, but it will be bright. And even brighter when I see my name roll in the end credits.
